Beyond the Classroom

At BillabongHigh International School (BHIS), learning extends well beyond textbooks and classrooms. Our co-curricular and enrichment programmes are designed to nurture creativity, physical well-being, leadership, and real-world understanding—ensuring the holistic development of every child.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)

Students from Lower Grade 1 to Grade 5 participate in Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) once a week. These sessions, conducted for an hour, are facilitated by a combination of expert external professionals and the BHIS teaching team.

Students are encouraged to explore their interests and talents through a diverse range of options such as Dance, Chess, Robotics, Space Education, Drama, Art & Craft, Maker’s Space (Wood Workshop), Martial Arts, and STEAM-based activities. CCAs provide opportunities for discovery, skill-building, and creative expression in a supportive environment.

After-School Activities (ASA)

For students in Grades 3 to 5, a wide selection of After-School Activities (ASA) is offered to further support physical development and artistic expression.

Sports programmes include Football, Cricket, Swimming, Basketball, and Badminton, with professional coaching provided by trained physical education specialists. In addition, students may participate in Musical Theatre programmes, allowing them to develop performance skills, confidence, and teamwork while working towards ensemble performances.

Music & Instrumental Programme

Students have the opportunity to enrol in instrumental or vocal music lessons, offered in structured blocks per semester. These lessons allow children to build musical skills, discipline, and confidence.

Regular recitals and school events provide platforms for students to showcase their learning, helping them grow as performers—both as soloists and ensemble members.

Student Voice & Leadership

At BHIS, student voice plays a vital role in developing responsibility, leadership, and self-confidence. In the Primary Years, Grade 5 students take on leadership roles, supporting school values and acting as role models for younger learners.

Through guided initiatives and collaborative projects, students develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while gaining confidence in decision-making and problem-solving.

Celebration Assemblies

Weekly assemblies for students from Lower Grade 1 to Grade 5 focus on personal, social, and emotional development, celebrations, and shared learning experiences.

These assemblies also recognise student achievements. Praise Certificates are awarded regularly to celebrate exceptional effort, progress, creativity, and positive values, reinforcing a culture of encouragement and appreciation.

Experiential Learning & Educational Trips

Experiential learning is an integral part of the BHIS Primary Years programme. Students participate in curriculum-linked day trips such as visits to planetariums, community services, and heritage locations, enriching classroom learning with real-world experiences.

As students grow, age-appropriate residential and outdoor learning experiences are introduced. These include on-campus sleepovers, adventure camps, and residential trips, all designed to foster independence, teamwork, resilience, and reflection. Such experiences help students build confidence, form lasting connections, and develop a deeper understanding of the world beyond school.

At BHIS, learning beyond the classroom shapes confident, capable, and compassionate individuals—ready to explore, lead, and grow.
