Overview BHIS

Billabong High was initiated as a journey forward with the aim to fire the imagination of children. The word “Billabong” comes from the Wirradjirri word for Billabang; the spoken language of the Australian Aboriginal tribe. It means still water lagoon, fed mostly by spring water, which is sacred water. Sacred water comes from the earth, our mother; it is never touched by sunlight.

That is why we are surrounded by sacred water in the womb; it is protected spiritually. Billabongs are also known to provide plenty, as there is always a complete mini eco-system at all billabongs. In true spirit, every Billabong High is a complete ecosystem catering to the intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of a child.

Our Mission

To create meaningful and rewarding learning experiences that will remain with the children for the rest of their life. The aim is to create a purpose of learning and allow children to be thinkers, innovators and problem solvers and to orchestrate experiences that will result in a natural and integrated development of knowledge, skills and thinking. Overall, we aim to equip all our students with the necessary 21st century life skills.

Most importantly, to raise the bar for quality of education.

School Philosophy

At BHIS, Tilwara, we believe that a school must be a vibrant centre of learning. Which is why education is not limited to academic excellence, but also extends to life enriching fields like music and sports and various other co-curricular activities.

We believe that collaboration between students, parents, teachers and management can together build communities, strengthen educational opportunities and develop strong value systems. Therefore, at BHIS, students are provided an atmosphere that is open, caring and conducive to learning.

Code of Conduct

All members of the School conduct themselves with integrity. They lead by example. Teachers attend to their duties with total dedication and commitment, are punctual in attendance, are dignified in their behaviour and fulfill the responsibilities given to them. They abide by the rules and regulations of the school and are a role model for their students and the community.

The most important difference about Billabong High lies in the theoretical underpinnings of the way we help children learn as opposed to teaching them. Hence, you may like to visit the section titled How we make a difference to your child, especially the sections on brain research(how this impacts curriculum), multiple intelligences (how is your child smart, not how smart is your child), theme-based learning(linking learning to life), Bloom’s Taxonomy (maximum learning) and developmental appropriateness (just right for your child’s age) to understand how they are utilised to ensure that your child learns in a way that is as engaging as it is effective.
